Latvians make their debut at the ACL Europe OPEN in Slovenia
From January 24 to 26, the first stage of the ACL Europe Open, the ACL Slovenia Open 2025, a top-level cornhole tournament, took place in the Slovenian capital Ljubljana. in the rope.
This year, for the first time in history, Latvian representatives also participated – Kaspars Liepiņš-Liepa and Kaido Liepiņš-Liepa, members of the Mārupe cornhole club “Cornhole Linden Leaf”.
The tournament featured over 150 of the best cornhole players from all over Europe, making it one of the most competitive rounds of the competition. Considering that this was the debut of Latvian athletes in a cornhole competition of this scale, the “Cornhole Linden Leaf” players achieved commendable results.
One of the biggest surprises of the tournament was Kaido Liepiņš-Liepa, who, playing in a pair with German representative Dirk Lau, won a joint third place in the SWAP tournament out of 62 teams. This achievement is particularly significant because it confirms the competitiveness of Latvian cornhole players in the international arena.
Kaspars Liepiņš-Liepa: "This is definitely a historic moment for the development of the cornhole game in Latvia. Participation in a tournament of this scale gave us invaluable experience and confidence. At the moment, of course, it is difficult for us to compete with the leading European cornhole players, although in individual games we showed that our level is also competitive. This was proven by Kaido's 3rd place in the SWAP tournament. We have proven ourselves to be among the European cornhole elite and have put another point on the European cornhole map. We are truly happy and proud that we can call ourselves the Mārupe cornhole club and be one of the pioneers of cornhole in Latvia."
The club has had good cooperation with leading Lithuanian
